Day One


Initial Development Progress

Project Overview:

I,ve begun the development of our 2D horror-platformer using Godot 4. The game features a unique duality system where the protagonist battles horrifying creatures tied to their past trauma. The game combines intense combat mechanics with a deep, psychological narrative.

Current Progress:

Player: 

The player can move left and right using either the arrow keys or WASD.  jumping and climbing has been implemented using the up and A keys and climbing down uses the D key.

Attacking with the basic attack uses the space bar. There are special attacks that use other keys that are partially implemented and currently locked 

The basic attack currently looks like a punch this is not the final version and once art is added it will make sense.

Enemy Behavior: Enemies spawn but do not move, they are killable by the player, and drop currency upon defeat currently this is a 100% drop rate for beta.

The upgrade panel exist and can be opened and closed but upgrades can not currently be purchased.

Currently there is no custom art and the player is trapped in a single room. To the right of the only platform is a ladder area for the player to climb up.

Next Steps:

Upgrade System: We’re building out a system for players to collect candy and purchase attack upgrades.

UI Improvements: Work on the upgrade screen UI, along with health and ability charge displays.
